There’s a lot of things to unpack here. So much so that it’s taken me days to finish writing and updating this post. This year is flying by way too fast. And someone needs to pull out the breaks. I think we all need a vacation for the next 1000 years.
We have Kronos and Hermes in their cthonic forms coming up this month. That leads us to a lot of different things. The New Moon is in Gemini. Which is the zodiac sign often associated with Hermes. In his current form he’s going into the incarnation of Hermes Psychopompos (Hermes Guide of the Soul).
Guarding the Dead
Hermes is a multifaceted God. A God of business. Of wealth. Of thieves. Of tricksters.
Of communication. Even a messenger of the Gods. So it comes as no surprise that when he goes into his deathly aspects (usually during a retrograde) everything falls apart. Also Gemini is an air element. Which means that there’s a possibility you might feel ungrounded.
And talk without thinking first. So it’s better to meditate and think before you say something during this new moon period. Like a retrograde, you might also be feeling the effects of that. Or maybe not. Maybe you’re feeling awesome and empowered.
And energized. Or you are in a super meditative state. Or just plain hyper. This is a fun kind of sign. The problem with this sign, because again, everything has a positive and a negative, is that Gemini is a duality sign.
And that means they’re kind of bipolar. Not all Gemini are like that. Some actually have a healthy relationship with their duality. The point is, that you might feel or be extreme in your ways. Not listening when others talk.
Wanting your way to be the only way. Saying stupid or unthoughtful things to people. Or revealing your own secrets or other people’s secrets. Now this is a new moon, not a Retrograde. Retrogrades tend to be simple.
It all goes to shit. And you have to meditate and do chthonic work to fix things. But new moons are different.
New Moons were traditionally seen as bad by ancient cultures. Like the Romans and the Indians.
But modern culture sees them as positive. Particularly Astrologers see them as times of “planting” or “seeding” your wishes and intentions. So from that perspective, the New Moon in Gemini is a prosperous time.
More prosperous than most new moons as a matter of fact. You see there’s a conjunction with Juno here. The Queen of the Gods. For the Greeks it would be Hera. Hera and Juno magnify the influences of other Gods.
Plus Hera also represents money and power like her husband Zeus. It could be a New Moon for asking Gods of the sign of Gemini to bring in money. Or some other desire you wish to manifest. So this new moon could go either way. I always look at all sides of an issue before getting involved.
So armed with this knowledge, I know that 1) Dark spirits and dark aspects of Gemini will be around during this moon. And 2) Positive and auspicious spirits will also be around. Now you just need to craft a ritual that aids you with both sides of the issue. Use your imagination and draw on your personal background. Lots of people try to imitate other spell casters all the time.
Even me. Instead of just being themselves. If all you know to do is to pray to your God or Goddess, do that. If all you know to do is to burn a candle or a paper with a wish, do that. It’s as simple as that.

Saturn Retrograde
Saturn is the planet of the Titan, Kronos. We all know the story of Kronos. His mother wanted him to free his brothers, the Hekatonkheri (100 handed ones). A Supreme Race of giants that were godlike. His father Uranus imprisoned them in Tartarus because he feared the Gods would be overthrown.
Kronos was also later imprisoned. But Gaia helped Kronos overthrow Uranus. And the first Titanomachy (Titan War) began. A Revolutionary war led by him to dethrone the original Gods known as the Protogenoi (The Progenitors). The ancient Primordial Gods led by Gaia and Uranus.
But once Kronos came to power, he saw the power of his brothers. And he realized his father was right to be afraid. Not because they were evil mind you. But because they had great power. Power perhaps great enough to challenge even the Gods as Uranus believed.
And Kronos eventually repeated his father’s mistake. He also became a tyrant. However, some might argue he did this to prevent a possible threat to the Universe from arising. Just like his father seemingly tried to do. How many dictators arose from the need to protect their homes from a threat?
I’m not making justifications. But if ever there was a justification for being a tyrant, this may have been a good one. Regardless, he did go too far. He went even farther than his own father did. Uranus cast a curse on Kronos,
“Just as you have killed and dethroned me, so shall your own children do the same to you,”
Kronos became increasingly paranoid about the prophecy. So paranoid that every time his wife bore him a child, he ate that child. Eventually his wife Rhea saved three children : Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. And hid them each on different islands. Each raised by different beings.
Eventually, Zeus found his brothers and with Gaia’s support, formed a rebel army of the New Gods. Zeus tricked Kronos into drinking a brew. Which forced him to vomit his other brothers and sisters. They were all fully grown and with powers. And he took them to his rebel base on Mount Olympus.
Oh, it should also be noted that a faction of the older Titanic Gods, sided with Zeus. Hekate whose own parents were ardent supporters of Kronos, was chief among them. As well as Selene. And Eurynome who was the temporary Queen of the Protegenoi. She ruled along with her husband Ophion.
They were the interim rulers after the fall of Uranus. But were cast down quickly by Kronos and Rhea. Later they got revenge as Olympians. From there, with Gaia’s continued support and power, they were victorious. The turning point as far as I’m concerned, was when Zeus fought Kronos in battle and tore open his belly.
And he released the other creatures he devoured. Such as other species of giants. The other siblings of the Gods. This increased the forces of the Olympian movement. And decreased Kronos’ strength greatly.
Kronos and the evil Titans were then cast into Tartarus and the Olympians replaced them. Unfortunately, history repeated itself with Zeus and his brothers not wanting to free the Hekatonkheri. Which led to Gaia saying “fuck it all”. Then creating a whole new army of Giants. Which led to the Gigantomachy (Giant War).
And all of this could have been avoided. If they just trusted in their own powers to protect themselves and the Universe. See? Even the Gods can be mistaken. But I digress. Why am I sharing all this supernatural history? Because it ties into Kronos’ persona as a dark lord of Tartaros.
When Saturn is direct, Kronos is in his original celestial incarnation. Back when he was one of the Kings of the Universe. Because even if a God King is overthrown, that doesn’t mean they ever truly lose their title. Uranus didn’t really die. His physical form was destroyed.
But he eventually came back and he’s still worshipped today. So even though Kronos is technically a lord of darkness and evil, that’s not all of him. Remember he had good intentions. So at least part of him is ruling a portion of the Heavens with the more ancient Gods. And I have met people who worship him and refer to him as a loving father.
It’s been eons since the Titanomachy. People change after a few years. But that being said, when Saturn is retrograde his dark side comes out. When Direct, Saturn is a planet of order and discipline. Of wealth and power.
Of virility.
But when it’s in retrograde, it’s the Kronos who was cast out of the Heavens. And sent to Tartaros with the fallen Titans. So money and power? Goes out the door. You can expect financial problems all over the place. Then there’s also the issue of loss of control over situations.
Or not having much control over your life. Also, while Kronos more heavenly or Sky God incarnation is in charge of authority, the dark Kronos is about rebellion against authority. So politically motivated riots and uprisings, rebellions, protests etc..should also be on the rise. So don’t be surprised. That’s why contrary to Jupiter and Venus who are called the Great Benefics, Saturn is known as the Great Malefic.
Because he rules over such things as time, karma or destiny, law and order, and punishment. He rules the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn Retrograde starts this Saturn’s Day (Saturday) June 17th. Which means it starts off with a huge boost. In addition to this, because he’s a ruler of Tartaros, he’s more chthonic than almost any other God.
With the exception of his son Hades. He goes direct again Saturn’s Day November 4th. Just a few days after the Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead. And on another Saturday. Which means his pernicious influence is going to be hard to kill. It starts from Saturday to Saturday.
And ends in the months when the dead are most active. That should tell you something. I predict that a lot of political strife is going to be felt in this country. More than usual. People on both sides are already tired of Biden and his lack of action on things.
As well as the growing inflation. He’s gonna have his work cut out for him. Plus we have the rise of Fascism in the US in the form of the GOP. Particularly with followers of DeSantis and Trump. More on the effects of Saturn Retrograde in this article.
But here is a quick excerpt.
One thing I found interesting was the idea that a Saturn Retrograde could grant a monetary reprieve. I have always thought of a Retrograde Saturn as causing loss of money. You learn something new everyday.
Pluto Retrograde
We also had Pluto go into retrograde on Tuesday the 13th of June. Tuesday the 13th is like Friday the 13th for Hispanics. A time of magic and the occult. My Godmother in Santeria often told me it was a good time to do magic. Though most Spanish people view it as a time of bad luck.
But for many witches, Friday the 13th and Tuesday the 13th hold power. Useful power. Tuesday in Catholic tradition is also a day of the dead. Because of St. Benedict of Nursia, the patron Saint of the happy dead. So this brings added power to the retrograde.
A retrograde that is more chthonic than normal. Pluto is the planet of Hades, the God of the Dead. Now Pluto in retrograde is a catch 22. When Pluto is in retrograde, forces associated with death and destruction lose a lot of power. So healing and benevolent magics and spirits are stronger around this time.
One Astrologer once told me that if she was sick or injured, she barely had to heal herself in a Pluto Retrograde. It was almost as if disease and disability itself lost power. But now comes the catch 22. Hades and the other two members of the Great Triad of the Greeks, represent power and money.
So when his planet goes retrograde, guess what that means for money. Yeah. Sucks don’t it? But honestly with inflation that really isn’t much of a shock. Especially with this old fart who spends more on Ukraine than he does all of us. And guess when his retrograde ends. Wednesday October 11th.
You can’t make this shit up. His retrograde ends in the beginning of the dark time of the year. Just like Kronos. That means this year is going to end very harshly. And also that it probably means the new year is going to have a very shitty start.
With more unfinished business. And another fucking year of having to fix our issues and do shit. I’m so tired of this BS. Gods forgive me, but I wish we could have a good season or year for once. Now I hope I’m wrong but I somehow doubt it.
