Tonight is Summer Solstice. I always give offerings to Lugh and Brighid even though technically Brighid is honored on Imbolc. I honor all of the Sun Gods and St. John the Baptist as well. But besides them I also honor Lord Summanus. The caption above provides most of the available information out there.

He is honored with round cakes or breads. I also partook in many of the Athenian Festivals with my Oikos for this day. I had to skip the dinner because I got stuck doing laundry. But I wanted to take time to let everyone know that tonight is a rare event. A New Moon that also has a Solar Eclipse.

Now I am speaking of this because there’s something about this I don’t like. New Moons are already cthonic. A solar eclipse is similar to the death of a Sun God in many ways. And it’s happening on a Saturday which is also cthonic and at the begining of the Athenian New Year. Which is the death of an old year for me.

This feels like a cthonic pulse. A sort of dark pulse based on the energies of death or the dead. Usually I can ride these pulses well. But fuck, I feel like a massive wave of destruction has come to fuck me sideways at every turn. I have had trouble even doing my regular celebrations.

It’s also the Feast of Anpu (Anubis) visiting all the necropolis everywhere. And it’s also a Roman Rosalia which are also feasts of the dead. Add to that, that I am doing special prayers for my grandma and all my white altars are covered yeah. I hate 2020. I wish this year was a person I could sacrifice on an altar.

But anyways….everyone reading this, protect yourselves. Santeros do not go out at night when certain astrological events happen because the whole world turns into a thin place. Or liminal space, like Samhain when everything starts coming out of the veil. Women who are pregnant or on their period should be especially careful. As there are dozens of things that can happen.

Magical workings should be done very carefully as raw powers can be unleashed and things could go very wrong. So take the time to cast your circles and be extra protected. The article posted above has a time table for when it occures in Miami, Fl.

Offer to Summanus and Lugh and all Summer Solstice Gods cakes or bread that is round and looks like the sun. Ask for protection from all evil spirits. And maybe light a round, blessed candle indoors to keep yourselves safe from harm. And if you must go out, wear a protective amulet. It’s also a good time to venerate your Dead and Worship the Gods of the Dead.
